Darwen Tower (Jubilee Tower )
Situated on the moors above Darwen town centre, Darwen Tower which is sometimes referred to as the Jubilee Tower was completed in 1898 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. and also to celebrate a victory for the local people with a right to walk across the moors.
Darwen is your typical Mill town with the famous India Mill Chimmney also towering up into the Lancashire skyline.
There are now 2 school academy's in Darwen being Darwen Aldridge and the second which is at Darwen Vale.
Nearby places include Blackburn, Hoddlesden, Tochholes, Pickup Bank, Abbey Village, Lower Darwen all of which stem from the BB1 postcode area.
With the M65 now running right through Darwen near to the boundry we also have easy access to Burnley, colne, Nelson, Manchester, Bury, Bolton, Preston, Blackpool and all the North West from our central point in town just off the A666
